John Erler

John R. Erler, 79, passed away at 5:29pm, December 16^th in Edwardsville, IL.  He was born in South Bend, IN on June 26, 1935, the son of the late John R. and Esther (Rump) Erler.He married Barbara Dawson on September 5, 1959 in Indianapolis, IN.John received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1958 and a MBA from Washington University in 1965.John was an engineer for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals for 40 years and was a past president of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers.He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Greg (Paula) Erler of Alton, IL and David Erler of Boston, MA; four grandchildren, Charlie, CeCe, Christopher, and Matthew Erler; one brother, Paul (Frances) Erler of Kalispell, MT; three sisters, Betty (Bill) Jantzen of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Ann (Gordon) Ziemann of Cedarberg, WI, and Doris Rittman of St. Louis, MO.John was a member of Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church.Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Monday, December 22^nd at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
