Frank Joseph “Golden Toes” Fillop, 61, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, October 19, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton. Born February 17, 1953 in Granite City, he was the son of Christina (Wallnofer) Fillop of Alton and the late John Fillop. Mr. Fillop worked as a floor foreman for International Paper for 20 years and had previously worked at the post office for 10 years and the Acme Bowling Alley (Riverboat Lanes) for 20 years. He was a former member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. On November 5, 1999 he married the former Mary Satterlee in Edwardsville. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Carrie Schulz (Jeff) of Creve Coeur, MO, a son, Matt Fillop (Vanessa) of Wood River, a step daughter, Rhustyna Mansker (Jim) of Union, MO, a step-son, Gordon Donaldson (Lacie) of Alton, 14 grandchildren, three brothers, John P. Fillop (Kyong Ae) of Georgia, Steven Fillop of Alton, Anthony “Tony” Fillop of Alton, and three sisters, Anna Fillop of Alton, Rita Nugent (Greg) of Alton, and Yolanda Hechenberger of Austria. Along with his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Meinard Fillop and a sister, Blanche Ward. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2104 at Gent Funeral Home Alton. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. Monsignor Kenneth Steffen will officiate.
