G. Bernadine Mitchell, age 88, of Alton, passed away at 9:15  am, Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.She was born October 9, 1926, in East Alton, the son of Herman and Grace (Drulard) Blackorby. She married John S. Mitchell on May 5, 1946 in Alton, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1999. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Main St. United Methodist Church in Alton.She is survived by a sister, Marilyn Scott; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, John; she is preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Harold, Cleo, Herman (Blacky), Louis, Sloke, and Bert; and a sister, Della.Visitation will be held Friday, September 12, 2014 from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Charlie Schwaab officiating.Burial will take place in Upper Alton Cemetery.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
