Bonnie B. Sticht, 88, passed away at 11:05 pm July 23, 2014 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
She was born on August 23, 1925 in Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Nettie (Gruver) Studivan. At age nine, Bonnie and her family moved to Branch, Arkansas.
After a short romance, she married Fred Carl Sticht at Camp Campbell, Kentucky on March 11, 1945. The couple lived in Farrar, Missouri and Wood River, Illinois; they had two daughters and three sons. Fred and Bonnie were married for thirty-five years before Fred passed away. Bonnie then moved to Moro, Illinois where she lived for thirty-two years.
Bonnie led an active life and had many hobbies. When her children were young, she was a homemaker. She was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto and participated in the church’s quilting group for more than thirty years. She loved to read, and especially liked biographies and mystery novels. She was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She took many memorable trips to destinations including Colorado, Mexico, and Austria. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Janet and Arlen Eggerling of Pella, Iowa, Shirley (Mrs. David) Schuette of Little Rock, Arkansas, Fred and Sue Sticht of Maryville, John and Marilyn Sticht of Bethalto and Bob and Carla Sticht of Tucson, Arizona; eleven grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Robert and Ernest Peel, and Bert Studivan; one sister, Juanita Peel; her son-in-law David Schuette and her grandson Matthew Sticht.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday, July 28, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Kale Hanson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
