Norma Jean Porter, 84, passed away at 4:05am on Friday, February 14, 2014, at her residence. She was born on December 29, 1929, in Glen Allen, Missouri the daughter of the late Estel and Ruth (Miller) Beasley. She married Raymond O. Porter on February 25, 1949, in East Alton and he preceded her in death on April 8, 1988. Survivors include one daughter: Pamela Stratton of Wood River, two grandchildren: Jennifer Brown of Roxana, Michael Stratton and his wife: Nichole of Freeburg, two great grandchildren: Kyle Brown, Kaden Brown, one sister: Oleda Flint of Florida, two brothers: Lowell Beasley of Cottage Hills, Leo Beasley of Cottage Hills, one sister in law: June Beasley of Shiloh, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She retired from Olin Corp. after 30 plus years.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother: Cleo Beasley.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Monday, February 17, 2014, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the funeral home. Pastor Leroy Hefner will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
