Linda Jane Hicks, age 64, at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013, the Lord said to Linda I see you are very sick and I don’t want you to suffer anymore, he took her hand and called her home with God her Heavenly Father, His son Jesus Christ, and her parents. No more suffering, no more pain, may you rest in peace. We love you. Linda was born November 7, 1949 in Alton, the daughter of Charles B. and Juanita (Cheek) Hicks. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from the comptroller office for the City of Alton as an accounting clerk after 31 years of service. Surviving are her adopted sisters, Darlene Hefley Stilwell of Wood River, and Donna Hefley Garrett of Godfrey, her girls night out friends; Carol Osburn, Mary Loy, Mary B. Dixon, Pat Loy, Shirley Dublo, Doris Jouett, Linda Smith, Carol Balsai, and Jo Ann Maher, four cousins, Mary Rose, Charlene Crim, Joyce Smith, and Paulette Cheek, and her special cat, Tiger Boy. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013. Reverend Royce Roy will officiate. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the 5A’s Animal Shelter.
