Arlene L. Hess, 72, passed away at 6:10 pm Monday, August 5, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side while under the care of BJC Hospice
She was born on February 1, 1941 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Jesse & Mary (Elam) Schmollinger.
She married Richard L. Hess on December 26, 1958 in Edwardsville, IL. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2012.
Arlene was employed for the Best Western Hotel in the house keeping department. She was a member of the Park Side Social Group. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, crafts, ceramics and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse & Kim Hess of Granite City, IL, Gregory & Beth Hess of Hot Springs, AR and James & Lois Hess of Greenville, IL; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Michael Hess, Matthew Affolter, Emily & Nick Parskus, Christopher & Melissa Hess, Michelle Hess, Timothy & Sara Hess, Anthony Ransom, Steven Hess, Heather Ransom-Hess and Sarah-Hess Ransom; four great grandchildren, Gabrielle and Chloe Affolter and Scottlynn and Abigail Hess.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf in Bethalto.
Graveside services will be at 10 am on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the BJC Hospice.
