Lois Colman

JERSEYVILLE-  Lois (Griffith) Colman, 80, died at 6:45 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Haypress in Greene County, Il. during a snowstorm on Feb. 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Joseph & Lucy (Berline) Griffith.Lois was raised in Greene County until the family moved to Jerseyville when she was 10 years of age.  She graduated from Jersey Township High School, and worked for the Democrat News for a short time before going into the real estate business, working for Rolando Real Estate in Jerseyville, eventually owning and operating her own realty company.She married Clarke P. Colman on June 25, 1971 at the Roodhouse United Methodist Church, and they shared  30 years together before his death on Sept. 12, 2001.Surviving are two step daughters, Beverly Mourning and her husband, Roger of Jerseyville, and Candice Cangelosi of Jerseyville; several step grandchildren; a brother, George Griffith of Slaughter, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Max Griffith, Joseph Griffith, and Donald Griffith.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  Father William Hembrow will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association
