Doris Knoche

Doris J. Knoche, 75, passed away at 7:50am on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at her residence with her loving family by her side.  She was born on June 18, 1937, in Carrolton, Illinois the daughter of the late James E. and Maudie C. (Herring) Adams.  She married Richard Knoche on July 12, 1958, in Bethalto and he survives.  Other survivors include two daughter and sons in law: Sharon and Danny Jones of Cottage Hills, Debbie and Glenn Heimer of Alton, one son and daughter in law: Richard and Kathy Knoche of Camdenton, Missouri, four grandchildren: Chad Mellenthin, Tad Mellenthin, Kristina Jones, Troy Knoche, four great grandchildren: Trinity, Ashtyn, Kori, Joshua, an expectant great grandson: Dade, and her beloved dogs: Mandy and Munch. 

She was formerly employed as a waitress at the Red Baron Lounge, the Colonial Club, the Lewis and Clark Restaurant, and Mrs. Seibold's Bakery.  She then owned and operated the D & R Diner in Cottage Hills for 15 years.  She was Mrs. Claus for the Toys for Tots for over 5 years.  She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto.  She loved throwing darts, bowling, and making apple butter.  She love spending time with her family.  They were her everything. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Betty Neathery. 

In celebration of her life, a visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the funeral home.  Rev. Royce Roy will officiate.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. 

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Riverbend and will be accepted at the funeral home.
