Katherine “Kay” Elizabeth Wittman, 71, died at 8:20 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehab. in Jerseyville after a long battle with Parkinsons and Neuropathy.

Born November 12, 1941 in Alton, she was the daughter of James and Winifred (White) Howard. Kay was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will always be remembered for her love of camping and love of animals.

She was a bookkeeper for Owens Illinois Glass Credit Union, McAteer’s House of Lights, Kane Mechanical, Sears, and Bill Meyers Accounting and retired from Rod Croxford, CPA. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.

On August 31, 1963 she married Harold Wittman at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Monnie (Todd) of Snohomish, Washington, and Margaret Cooper (Dale) of Godfrey, one son, Hal Wittman (Melody) of Pocahontas, IL, five grandchildren, Jesse and Ashlee Wittman, Garrett Cooper, Tyler and December McKelley, eight great grandchildren, and two sisters, Joan Bensman of Godfrey, and Mary Jane Metz of Delta, Colorado.

There will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Parkinsons and Neuropathy Research Department at Washington University School of Medicine or a foundation of your choice. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
