JERSEYVILLE-  Harold Anson "Andy" McIver, 77, died at 4:10 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.He was born in Roodhouse on July 5, 1935, and was the son of the late Edgar Wilson "Mac" and Leona (Ryan) McIver.Andy graduated from Roodhouse High School, where he participated in both basketball and football, and entered the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War.He returned home, and began a lifelong career with General Telephone, where he dedicated 37 years of service, retiring in 1995 as a switchman.Andy was a people person, and always enjoyed being around family and friends.  He was widely known for his story and joke telling, especially around his roundtable buddies at Fran & Marilyns, and enjoyed duckhunting, fishing, golfing (even getting a hole in one) and loved to ride his Harley Davidson.He married the former Janet Sue Stiritz on Sept. 3, 1982 in Jerseyville, and she died on Jan. 12, 1990.Surviving are a son & daughter in law, David & Cindy McIver of Jerseyville; a daughter, Kathy McIver of Jerseyville; two grandchildren, Justin, and his wife, Whitney McIver of Jerseyville, and Katie McIver, and her fiance', Johnny Schnettgoecke of Jerseyville; a brother & sister in law, Tim & Libby McIver of Arcadia, Fl.; a sister, Mary Christine Pollard of Osage Beach, Mo.; his former wife and mother of his two children, Evelyn (Knoche) Paris of East Alton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son in law, James Fowler; a brother in law, Ronald Poland; a nephew, John Robert Rust; and a dear companion, Sandy Howard.Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday.  Rev. Dennis Hill will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to the Illinois Valley Senior Meals Program or to the Salvation Army Food Pantry both in Jerseyville, or you may just do a random act of kindness or take the time to reconnect with an old friend in honor of Andy
