Jack W. Torum, 95, passed away at 12:45 pm Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville with his family by his side.
He was born on April 6, 1917 in Centralia, IL, the son of Clyde and Alvinia (Backs) Torum.
He married Bernice M. Sphere of Centralia on Christmas Day. She preceded him in death in 1984.
Jack enjoyed many activities, especially gardening. He loved spending time in his garage as well as his back yard and porch. What he enjoyed the most was spending time with his only grandson, teaching him to ride his bicycle, swim, play golf, softball and basketball.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Crane of Bethalto; one grandson, Christopher Crane of Spanaway, Washington and three great grandchildren, Caleb, Sebastian and Isabella.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Torum and an infant daughter, Sharon Kay Torum.
Per his wishes, funeral services were private.
