Lillian Charlotte Mortensen, 93, passed away peacefully at 7:20 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 at V.I.P. Manor in Wood River. Born February 15, 1919 in Fruitvale, Idaho, she was the daughter of Lester and Hattie (Vasser) McMahan.
She married Dale R. Mortensen on June 12, 1940 in Council, Idaho. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2000. Surviving are two sons and three daughters-in-law, JoAnne Mortensen of Herriman, Utah, Reid M. and Marsha Mortensen of East Alton, and Randy M. and Janet Mortensen of Salt Lake City, Utah, 16 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gary M. Mortensen and L. Dale Mortensen, one brother, George McMahan, one sister, Mildred Hancock, one grandson, Gary B. Mortensen and one great grandson, Dawson Strate.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Godfrey. Burial will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of local arrangements.
