Bessie Hanrahan

Bessie R. Hanrahan, 84, passed away at 2:25 am Wednesday November 7, 2012 at her home with her granddaughter by her side.

She was born on October 14, 1928 in Woodsville, NH, the daughter of the late Winfred and Adell (Blodget) Robb.

She married Phil Hanrahan on August 27, 1949, in Ashuelot, NH, and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2012.

 

Bessie was a school teacher at Humbolt School and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Alton. She did volunteer work at St. Anthony’s Hospital gift shop and the Oasis Caravan Resale Shop and was an avid reader.

She is survived by, four children, and their spouses: Adele Annes of Wheaton, IL, Susan (Donald) Ullmann of Essex Fells, NJ, Betsy Hanrahan of Northbrook, IL, Michael Hanrahan of Batavia, IL: twelve grandchildren Alexia (David) Ellett, Khari Annes, Evan Annes, Tim Ullmann, Kevin Ullmann, Emily Ullmann, Grant Harkins, Corey Harkins, Brittany Harkins, Kayla Hanrahan, Erin Hanrahan, Patrick Hanrahan and two great granddaughters, Aubrey and Brynn Ellett.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother Winfred Robb, Jr.

Memorial Service will be held at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton at 1 pm Saturday November 17, 2012 with Father Shawn Monahan officiating with a memorial visitation until 3 pm.

Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
