Violet Julian Hayes, 91, entered into eternal rest at 7:18am on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Eunice C. Smith Nursing Home in Alton. She was born on April 19, 1921, in Goss, Louisiana the daughter of the late Alonzo "Fuzzy" and Emily (Blanchard) Julian. She married Raymond L. Hayes on December 2, 1939, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1994. Survivors include her daughter, Dot Schuler of Dow, Illinois; a son-in-law, Larry Lawrence of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren, Christy Anne Bryant and her husband, Keith of Edwardsville, Illinois; Amy Lynne Schuler of Edwardsville, Illinois; Christopher Lon Lawrence of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and David Lawrence of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Riley Bryant; one sister, Gloria Tankersley of Longview, Texas; special friend, John Maher of Jerseyville, Illinois; loving caregiver, Pam Cunningham.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Lowell Hayes.; daughter, Anne Lawrence; brother, David Julian, two sisters: Nita Burns and Marjorie Wilkins, and a son-in-law, Dale Schuler.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville. Father D. Patrick Gibbons will be the celebrant. Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Rosewood Park Cemetery in Longview, Texas and will be under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville or to the Alzheimer's Association.
