Ruth Ann Phipps, 68, passed away at 8:30 am Monday January 23, 2012 at Jerseyville Manor with her family by her side.
She was born in Alton, IL on September 3, 1943 the daughter of the late Stephen G. and Lorraine L. (Funk) Droege.
On April 4, 1964, she married William Phipps at SS. Peter and Paul Church.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and enjoyed gardening and flowers, but most of all she loved her family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by five children, Annette Heinemann of Godfrey, Brian Phipps of Godfrey, Matthew Phipps of Grafton, Samuel Phipps of Godfrey, and Mary and Ken Bower of University City, MO; eight grandchildren, Joseph, Jeremy, Andrew, Katlyn, Nate, Elizabeth, Joseph, and Claire; two sisters, Jeanette Sagez of Hardin, IL, and Elaine Pilka of Wheeling, IL; one brother David Droege of Springfield, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday January 24, 2012 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10 am Wednesday January 25, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Tom Cannon OMV officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
