Roberta Vandalia

Roberta “Bobbie” L. Vandalia, 67, passed away at 6:19 pm Monday, January 16, 2012 at her home.

She was born on January 7, 1945 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Robert & Pat (Brown) Wohlert.

She married Robert L. Vandalia on August 7, 1969 in Alton. He survives.

She owned and operated Golden Shears Hair Studio in Alton and was a member of College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Alton where she served as an Elder and Deacon.  She was a Stephen Minister, head of the Aids Interfaith Response Group, and head of the Aids Support Group all with College Avenue Presbyterian Church. She conceived and organized the annualcommunity Christmas dinner. She was also a talented artist, and built and furnished doll houses and made bread dough flowers.

In addition to her husband, Robert L. Vandalia, she was also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Zona & Bill Dodd of Alton, Phillip & Sherry Wohlert of Alton, several nieces and nephews, Dawn & Jerry Cooley, Shawn & Joe Yates, Tony & Heather Dodd, Vance & Marjorie Wohlert, Troy Wohlert, Judy & Bob Baum of Alton, and Chris Russell, seventeen great-nieces and nephews, two aunts, Carolyn Brown and Jackie Wohnlich.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

In celebration of her life, memorial services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at College Avenue Presbyterian Church in Alton with Pastor Dale Jackson and Pastor George Humbert officiating.

Memorials may be made to the family.
