James Loren Long, 83, of Brighton, IL, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012. He was born June 8, 1928, in St. Louis, the son of James R. and Esther Long (nee Christian). Beloved husband of Edith Long (nee Bolin); dear father of James Stephen (Ruthanne) Long, Patricia (David) S. Wist, and Randall (Nina) Long; dear brother of Betty Jean Eyerly and Dale (Mary) Long; dear grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; dear uncle and friend to many. Proceeded in death by parents and one brother. Jim graduated from McKinley HS('46), served in the US Navy, graduated from Mizzou, taught Jr. HS Science at McCluer, coached track, founded Florissant Honda Sales and Jim Long's Used Cycles and Cars, raced boats and motorcycles, was an active sportsman and a Rotarian.Visitation: 2-5pm Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, Services at 5pm, both at Targhetta and Wooldridge FH, 501 W. Center St, Brighton IL 62012 (online guestbook at www.targhettaandwooldridge.com). Graveside service will be held on Mon. Jan. 23, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary at 10:30am. Please meet at the administration building. Memorials are invited to the Wounded Warrior Project.
