Therain Gilman

Therain Christian Gilman, 90, died at 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.He was born in Flat River, Missouri on March 22, 1921, and was the son of the late George S. & Mary Louise (Usher) Gilman.He was a U.S. Air Force as well as a U.S. Navy veteran, and retired as an aircraft mechanic from the U. S. Air Force and McDonnell-Douglas Corp. in St. Louis, Mo.He was married to the former Rosie Lee Godwin, and the two married on Nov. 7, 1942 in Penscola, Fl., and she died May 31, 1964.Surviving are a son & daughter in law, Therain William & Blanche Gilman of Fieldon; two grandchildren, Stefanie & Danny; a half brother & his wife, Gerald & Marcia Gilman of Edwardsville; a half sister, Priscilla Devine of Florissant, Mo., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Leoria Short; three brothers, William, Clyde & Willard Gilman, and his longtime companion, Angelee Alexander.Visitation will be from 11 a.m., Monday until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  His nephew, Rev. Greg Short, will officiate.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, where the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 will conduct military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to the Color Guard of the Jerseyville American Legion.
