Marilyn J. Hettwer, 72, passed away at 4:06 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 18, 1939 in Granite City, IL, the daughter of Robert P. and Stella E. (Cochran) Lindner.
She married Grover C. Young on June 29, 1957. He passed away on December 29, 1990. She married Raymond A. Hettwer on November 6, 1980. He passed away on March 4, 2003.
Marilyn was a homemaker most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, traveling and taking care of her grandchildren and children in general.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicki and Mike Ryan of Bethalto, Kathy Young of Roxana and Beth and Gary Davis of Granite City; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Cristy Young of Granite City; seven grandchildren, Jeremy and Erin, Katelyn, Luke, Briana, Brittany, Adam and Chris; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Ethan and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert E. Lindner, James Lindner, Ralph Lindner and Donald Lindner and a sister, Lorene Breece.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Monday, December 26, 2011 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 27, 2011 with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville.
