The St. Louis Cardinals lost their number one fan on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, when Conrad Joseph "Joe" Walsh, 77, died at a care center in Aurora, Colo. after an extended illness.
Joe was born May 12, 1934 in Newton, Kan. to Raymond and Helen Goleman Walsh and was raised in Chanute, Kansas. He was born the year the the Redbirds won their third World Series and he avidly followed the team as they went on to win nine more world championships including their latest win this year. He followed the recent World Series in spite of his illness and was thrilled to see the Cards win their eleventh championship.
Survivors: Wife, Annette Walsh of Aurora; sons, Kevin Walsh (LeeAnne) of San Diego, Calif., and Robert Walsh of Bellingham, Wash.; stepdaughter, Michelle Wadlow (Joe) of Jerseyville, Ill.; stepson, Tony Bright (Cindy) of O'Fallon, Ill.; brother, Mike Walsh of Chanute, Kan.; niece, Michelle Pastorek (John) of Pasadena, Md.; niece, Stacey Walsh (Bill Lewington) of British Columbia, Canada; nephew, Brian Walsh of Blair, Neb.; mother-in-law, Doloris Burnett of Godfrey, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Jim Eisenreach (Linda) of Godfrey, Ill., Gary Eisenreich (Sally) of Chatham, N.J., and Bob Eisenreich (Nina) of Sacremento, Calif.; grandchildren, Murphy, Rory, Patrick, Daniel, Jonathan and Joel Walsh, Justin, Bailey and Clay Wadlow, Camryn Bright, Lizzie and Joey Wisdom; companion and another favorite topic of conversation, his beloved cat, Dasher. Kitties Scooter and Momcat met him at the Rainbow Bridge.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, a brother, Patrick Walsh; and nephew, Thomas Walsh.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011 from 10 am until time of service at 11 am at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.
Memorial may be made to the Heartland Hospice.
