Anna M. Rhoades, 71, died at 9:04 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born March 11, 1940 in Iron County, MO the daughter of the late Clifford C. and Jewell (Brawley) Boomershine. On February 22, 1960 in Alton she married Kenneth Rhoades and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2006. She worked for several years at Owens IL Glass in Alton, and several years at Burt’s Shelter Care in Alton before retiring after 15 years at St. Clare’s Hospital. She was a member of Enjoy Church in Alton. The most important thing in her life was her family.
She is survived by her daughter Tammie Rhoades and fiancé Phil Durie of Alton and her son Mike Rhoades of Alton, one grandson; Ted Harkins of VanBuren, MO, special sister; Becky Tinsley of Godfrey, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and two beloved Dogs; Toto and Cayenne. She was preceded in death by an infant sister; Anita Louise Boomershine and two brothers; Leroy and Benny Boomershine.
A memorial service will be at Gent Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. David Weimer officiating. Memorials may be made to Diabetes Foundation.
