Eula Mae Butler, 78, passed away at 6:27am on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at her residence. She was born on October 31, 1933, in Alton, Illinois the daughter of the late Everette and Laura (Jones) Brown. She married J.W. Butler on June 9, 1951, in Cottage Hills, Illinois and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter: Judy Butler - Sherwood of East Alton, two sons and daughters in law: Darrell and Cynthia Butler of Troy, Illinois, Carl and Danita Butler Sr. of East Alton, nine grandchildren: Teresa Sherwood of East Alton, April Butler of East Alton, Jason Sherwood of East Alton, Josh Butler stationed in North Carolina, Carl Butler Jr. stationed in Afghanistan, William Vahle of East Alton, Travis Butler stationed in the Philippines, Brianna Butler of Troy, Illinois, Katelyn Butler of East Alton, five great - grandchildren, one sister: Wanda F. Barrett of Rolling Hills, Arkansas, a special nephew: Ronnie Green and his wife: Doris of Murray, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.
She was formerly employed at National Vinegar Company for 12 years. She then was employed as a midnight cook at Olin Food Service and Canteen. She was a member of the East Alton American Legion #794 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Diana Butler, and seven brothers and sisters.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the East Alton American Legion and will be accepted at the funeral home.
