Mary Jane Margaret Elder, 79, passed away at 11:25 pm Tuesday November 22, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Rolla, MO.
She was born on October 14, 1932 in St. Charles County, MO, the daughter of the late Cromer & Bernadine (Steinhoff) Hutchison.
She married Russell Elder on October 13, 1951 in Alton and he preceded her in death on November 22, 2011.
Mary and Russell were owners and operators of the Russ and Mary ‘s Tavern in West Alton, MO for over 50 years, and was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 Ladies Auxiliary and the Alton Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff & Phyllis Elder of New Melle, MO; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn & Gran Keebey; three grandchildren, Patrick Ryan Keebey, Kyle Russell Keebey and Travis James Elder; one sister and brother-in-law, Sandy & Leroy Lenger of Jefferson City, MO and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, November 25, 2011 at Staten Fine Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday, November 26, 2011.
Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in West Alton, MO.
Memorials may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, MO or the Leukemia Society.
