Eunice Hinson

Eunice M. (Abbott) Hinson, 87, died at 12:15 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Blu Fountain Manor Nursing Home in Godfrey. She was born west of Kane on May 7, 1924, one of fourteen children born to the late Samuel & Maudie (Keown) Abbott.She married George L. Hinson on June 30, 1942 and he died on March 10, 1966.Surviving are three sons & a daughter in law,  Lewis Gene Hinson  and George Estel Hinson both of Alton, and Rick Allen & Caroline Hinson of High Bridge, NJ.; a son in law, Raymond Buel Smith of Frenchtown, NJ; nine grandchildren;11 Great Grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a sister, Wanda Wilkinson of Bowling Green, Ky.; and two brothers, Alonzo "Jack" Abbott of Jerseyville, and Samuel Abbott of Carrollton.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Wanda Marie (Hinson) Smith; a daughter in law, Charlotte Alice Hinson; six sisters, Elzina Morris, Effie Polito, Clara Smith, Ellen Holmes, Maudie "Betty" Walters, and Eylene Walther; and four brothers, Thomas L., William H., Emerson Leo, and Herschel Robert Abbott.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hope Lutheran Church in Jerseyville.Burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Otter Creek Historical Society of Otterville or to the 5A's Animal Shelter in Alton.
