Evelyn R. Hooper, age 89, passed away, at 11:43 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Bethalto Care Center in Alton.
She was born June 13, 1922 in Fosterburg, IL, daughter of Raymond & Elsie (Frobel) Schmidt.
She married Lavern F. Hooper Sr. on September 10, 1948 in Alton, he preceded her in death on August of 2006
Evelyn was a graduate of Alton High School. She was employed at the Glass Works as a Selector for over twenty years. She enjoyed shopping, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay & David Thomas of Brighton and Joyce & Gene Ralston of Cottage Hills; one son, Gerald “Jake” Allen and Mary of Bethalto; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister Shirley Rose of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Lavern F. Hooper Jr. and two brothers, Vernon and Clyde Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon, on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will follow at Fosterburg Cemetery in Fosterburg, IL.
