LeRoy Fessler, 82, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.  Born April 8, 1929 in Alton, he was the son of Roy and Velma Rae (Smith) Fessler.  Mr. Fessler retired as a printer from the Alton Telegraph after 42 years of service.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church.  He was also a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #25 AF & AM and an avid gardener.  On April 13, 1951 in Alton, he married the former Nancy Patterson.  Along with his wife of 60 years, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey Fessler and his wife Sandy of Chesterfield, MO.  He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Fessler.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of Masonic service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton followed by a graveside service at Valhalla Memorial Park.
