Jerry “Bear” E. Besterfeldt, age 63, passed away at 8:37 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Jacksonville, IL, on July 25, 1948 to the late Enos and Bertha Lou (Welch) Besterfeldt.
He is survived by his fiancé, Colleen Vantrease, of Alton; her children, Cynthia and Marshall Wright of Alton, and Nyssa Vantrease of Alton; a brother Donald Besterfeldt of Jacksonville, IL; and an aunt, Marcella Copeland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an aunt, Marge Miller; and an uncle, Mac Miller.
A memorial visitation will be from 3 to 6 pm, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Gordon Moore Park in Alton, Il. at the Muenstermann Paviliona, with the service at 6 pm, with the Rev. Richard McCreary officiating. All that knew and loved Jerry are invited to attend, please bring a cover dish for a time of remembrance and to celebrate his life.
Per Jerry’s wishes cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be directed to the family in care of his fiancé, Colleen Vantrease .
