James Ebert Acord, age 62, passed away at 11:15 am Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Christian Hospital NE in St. Louis with his family by his side.
He was born on September 16, 1948 in Alton, IL, the son of Hallard E. and Merle G. (Cross) Acord.
He married Rosa Zuniga August 13, 1983 in Guadalajara, Mexico. She survives.
James served our country in the United States Army and worked for many years as a mechanic for Goodyear Automotive until he retired in 1995. He was an active member of the ATA Amateur Trapshooting Association, the VFW Post of Conroe, TX, and a member of the American Legion post 618 of Willis TX.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa; one son, Wayne Hallard Acord of Willis, TX; two daughters Merle Lynn and Crystal Rose Acord of Willis, TX; two sisters, Geraldine and her husband Daniel Blodgett of Alton, and Merle Jeanette Alexander of Jerseyville; many nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend Jim Dodd.
He was preceded by his parents.
Visitation will be held Sunday August 7, 2011 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral service will be Monday August 8, 2011 at 11 am at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with Rev. Charles West officiating.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Military Rites will be performed by Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.
