Richard T. Schildroth Sr., 74, went to be with the Lord and be reunited with his wife, at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Born December 28, 1936 in Alton, he was the son of Leonard and Eileen (Weigler) Schildroth Sr. He retired from Owens Illinois Glass in Alton after 28 years of service. After retirement, he worked as a carpenter and had worked at Bethalto Party World and The Craft and Antique Mall since 1995. He was an avid baseball fan, coached little league, and played fast pitch softball for many years. On February 11, 1956 in Alton, he married the former Lillian Maxine McCoy. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2009 after 53 years of marriage. Surviving are seven children, Deborah Bonnell of Bethalto, Richard T. Schildroth Jr. of Palmyra, Pamela and Bill Warix of Wood River, Vickie and Gary Diepenbrock of Bethalto, Kathleen and Thomas Kuhn of Tampa, FL, Kimberly and Joseph Meyers of Bethalto, and Kelly and Earl Pizzarelli of Alpharetta, GA, 14 grandchildren, Alyssa Bonnell, Ricky and Kacie Schildroth, Billy and Brittany Daniels, Brad and Shelby Diepenbrock, Kristen and Kyle Kuhn, Misty and Ashley Meyers, Lyndsie, Cortney and Joey Pizzarelli, four great grandchildren, Tyler, Emily and Brayden Highley, and Alayna Harris, seven brothers and sisters, Ronnie Schildroth of Springhill, LA, Johnnie Schildroth of Douglasville, GA, Charlie Schildroth of Godfrey, Leonard Schildroth of Allegan, MI, Carol Hailer of Alton, Sharon Yakabovich of Bowling Green, KY, and Mike Schildroth of Ballwin, MO. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon Monday, May 23, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Pastor Leonard Schildroth will officiate. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
