Ruby M. Wieneke, 90, passed away Saturday May 7, 2011 at 8:40 pm at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
She was born in Bethalto on December 5, 1920, the daughter of the late Arnold and Edna (Flack) Schmidt.
She married Otto E. Wieneke Sr. on May 15, 1948 in Edwardsville, IL. He preceded her in death in January of 1992.
Ruby worked at Olin Corporation as lab tech in the fabrication department retiring January 1983. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Bethalto where she used to quilt two days a week. She loved to spend time in the garden and tending to her flowers. She was a Past President of the American Legion Post 214 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Otto Jr. and his wife Brenda Wieneke of Bethalto, and Teenie and his wife Barb Wieneke of Fieldon; one daughter Patricia and her husband Bob Winchell of Fieldon; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and twenty-six great-great grandchildren and one brother Paul and his wife Pauline Schmidt of Alton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by, a daughter Rayola Burris; four great, grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be on Wednesday May 11, 2011 from 9:30 am until service time at 11 am at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Jerry Wray officiating.
Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Church in Bethalto.
