Clyde “Skip” W. Jones Jr., 46, passed away unexpectedly Saturday April 30 at 7:40 pm at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.
He was born on March 4, 1965 in Alton, IL, the son of Clyde W. and Jo Ann (Elkins) Jones, Sr.
Skip served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1985 to 1989. He was a self employed contractor. He was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, Rams football, fishing, golfing, working with his hands and cooking. He never met a stranger and he loved to talk to people.
In addition to his parents of Bethalto, he is survived by his children, Seth William O’Neill Jones of Wood River and Sadie Marie Jones of Bethalto; his maternal grandmother, Vera Hart of Bethalto; a sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Scott Hamilton of Bethalto; a brother, Jeff Jones of Wood River and his nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Jason, Sarah and Casse.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor John Tennyson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a Memorial Fund for the Children’s College at First of Bethalto.
