Howard P. Spraggs, Sr., 55, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
Born Jan. 6, 1956 in Alton, he was a son of Gentry and Vivian (Tramell) Spraggs.
A construction laborer, he married Kathy I. Chamness June 7, 1984 in South Roxana. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Teresa Snodgrass of Dunn, NC, Jennifer Spraggs of Springfield, Ill., and Sarah Spraggs of Alton; six sons, Howard Phillip Spraggs, Jr. and his wife Brandy, Stephen Spraggs, Michael Spraggs, James Spraggs, Daniel Spraggs, and Josh Spraggs, all of Alton; 13 grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Mark Spraggs and his wife Brenda, Christopher Spraggs, and James Spraggs and his wife Sabrina, all of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ross Spraggs.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from noon until services begin at 1 p.m. Rev. Dan Smith will officiate. Cremation will follow.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
