Rolland “David” Rhodes, 61, passed away at 12:45 pm Thursday, March 31, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on October 13, 1949 in Wood River, IL, the son of Rolland V. and Allene (Kilmer) Rhodes.
He married Carol Barnett on October 30, 1970 in Portsmith, VA. She survives.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired from Wegman Electric as their Corporate Treasurer in 2010. He was a graduate of SIU-E and a Charter Member of the Bethalto Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Rhodes of Bethalto; his mother, Allene (Kilmer) Rhodes Taylor of Wood River, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky & Tony DiPaolo of Rosewood Heights; three stepchildren, Billy Demler of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Donna Hagerman of Deltona, FL and Richard Demler of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Jordan and Jaden DiPaolo; four step grandchildren, Brandon, Austin, Tyler and Tony; four siblings, Rhonda Bryan of Coppell, TX, Rollene Mattingly and her husband Ken of Rosewood Heights, Randon Rhodes and his wife Linda of Wood River and Radonna “Dee” Vinyard and her husband Tim of Edwardsville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Wanda United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerald Savage officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with military rites given by Alton VFW Post 1308.
