Ilean V. Welch, 85, passed away at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was born in Greenbriar, Mo. Oct. 11, 1925 to Horace and Dova (Cato) Crites. She married Virgil Lois Johns, and later married Jess Lee Welch. They both preceded her in death. A packer for Owens-Illinois Glass, she retired after 30 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Schreda Tite and Brenda Myers, both of East Alton; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie and Dan Murphey, Robin and Dee Tull, Ronda and Rich Spencer, Tammy and Danny Davis, David and Nancy Myers, Lori and Dallas Bold, and John and Gariann Myers; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Isaac of Puxico, Mo. and Emily Price of St. Louis; and a brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Helen Crites of Edwardsville.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Ernie, Woodrow and Elman Crites; and four sisters, Mildred Fee, Azelee Lemons, Vivian Haskell and an infant sister.
Private family services will be held, and in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
