Deon G. Barnes, age 42 died at 8:01 pm, Thursday, March 10, 2011, at his home.
He was born on July 3, 1968 in Alton, IL to the late, Larry Barnes, his mother Carol (Pruitt) Barnes survives.
Deon married Bobbie (Watson) on December 10, 2009 in cottage Hills, IL. She survives.
Deon worked as a deck hand 1st mate for the Barge industry for over 20 years. He was a member of the Armed Forces Museum in Alton, His greatest passion was spending time with his family and friends. He had a big heart and it showed in the many ways he helped other people. .
He is survived by his wife Bobbie, his mother Carol, one son; Danniel Price of Jerseyville, one stepdaughter; Heather Thomason of Wood River, one brother and his spouse Wade and Amy Barnes of Alton, maternal grandmother; Rose Pruitt of Alton, paternal grandmother; Sylvia Evans of E. Alton, and 2 nieces; Acea Raye Barnes of Wood River, and Shyanna Rose Barnes of Wood River.
Deon was preceded in death by his father, and a brother Josh who passed away
in January of 2011.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home, in Alton, where funeral services will be on Tuesday March 15, 2011at 10 am, with the Rev. Rocky Runion officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.
