Flossie E. Auer, 84, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital. 

Born April 12, 1926 in Pittsburg, IL, she was the daughter of Loren and Maude (Heath) Maynard.  She worked for Owens Illinois Glass and played on their softball team.  Later she worked from her home as a seamstress.  She was a member of Bethalto United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1308 Ladies Auxiliary.  She volunteered at St. Anthony’s Hospital for six years and was an election judge for three years. 

Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Simpson of Alton, Pam Venne and Gerry Shanholdt of Dallas, TX, and Regina Auer and Jack VanWinkle of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Amissa Vandevoort and her husband Tony, and James Simpson and his wife Nichole, two great grandchildren, Amber Vandevoort and Nathen Simpson, two sisters, Ruby Chapman and Beulah Frye both of Marion, IL, and her loving partner for the past 6 years, Bob Rolwes of Alton.  She was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Gene, Melvin and Almund Maynard, and one sister, Margaret Lattuca. 

A memorial visitation will be from 12:00 noon – 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Alton Owl’s Club, 227 Blair Ave., Alton, IL 62002.
