M. Ruth Justice, 93, passed away at 3:30 pm Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Eldercare Nursing Home in Alton.
She was born on August 15, 1917 in Girard, IL, the daughter of Paul & OMA (Adams) Hurley.
She married James L. Justice on January 26, 1951 in Mississippi Co., AR. He passed away October 7, 1973.
Ruth was employed as an inspector for Olin and retired in 1978. She was a member of Abundant Life Church in Alton, the Westerns Club and LIFT. She loved to spend time next to her house at Pisa Creek where she lived for many years and loved to raise Beagles.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and their spouses, Mike & Laurie Hurley of Lexington, KY, Jim Hurley of St. Louis, MO, Bill Hurley of PA, Joe & Dee Hurley of PA, Terri Godar of NY, and Jean & Wes Laird of Cottage Hills, IL; one sister-in-law, Rita Hurley of PA; several great and great-great nieces and nephews, one cousin Ed Adams of St. Louis, MO and a very dear friend, Tillie Hurley of Marilyn Height, MO.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, Frank Moak and Paul “Bud” Hurley; 2 sisters, Velma Hamel and Opal Lonam; three nieces, Betty Hamel, Linda Knoche and LaVetra Binkley and 1 nephew, Rusty Hamel.
Per her request her body was donated to science. A memorial visitation will be from 1 pm until services at 2 pm Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Abundant Life Church in Alton with Gerald Calloway officiating.
Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton with will be in charge of arrangements.
