Ardith Elaine Nation, 77, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville. 

Born May 12, 1933 in Edinburg, IL, she was the daughter of Charles Henry and Nellie Mae (Chase) Clanney.  She was a member of the Alton-Wood River Sportsman’s Club where she served as vice president and president of the Board of Ladies Auxiliary. 

On March 3, 1972 in Alton, she married Joseph Francis Nation.  He preceded her in death on May 5, 2004.  Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Kearbey and her husband Cecil of Alton, and Valorie Koeller of Godfrey, two step-sons, Joe Nation and wife Cathy of Rosewood Heights and Richard Nation, a step daughter, Susan Brunk and her husband Chris of Alton, seven grandchildren, five step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and a special sister-in-law, Lucille Clanney of New Albany, IN.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Lyles, a brother, Charles William Clanney, and two sisters, Evelyn Ennis and Beulah Compton. 

There will be no funeral service on Tuesday as originally scheduled.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Burial will be private at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.  Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter.
