Curtis Hancock

Curtis A. Hancock, 78, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.  Born July 1, 1932 in Jonesboro, Ark., he was the son of Guy and Dori (Davis) Hancock.  He married Betty Lou Easter Dec. 15, 1950 in Sedgewick, Ark.  She survives.  A crane operator for Laclede Steel, he retired in 1976 after 25 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Genevieve Hancock of Swansea and Marlenia Roberts and her husband David of Livingston, Ill.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Brenda Hancock of Cottage Hills, Donald and Fredricka Hancock of Columbia, Mo., and Marvin and Brenda Hancock of Bethalto; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Margie Pruett and Florene Ivae, both of Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Mayme Slobokum of Alton.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20.  Brother Timothy Keller will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the East Alton Assembly of God.
