Carl E. Foster, 80, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2011 at his home. He was born May 26, 1930 in Alton to Carl and Wanda (Baldwin) Foster, both now deceased. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during the Korean War. He retired as plant manager from National Marine after working there over 30 years. Carl married Jackie M. Cotton in January of 1973. She also preceded him in death on April 1, 2006.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dana and Diana Foster of Moro; two daughters and a son-in-law, Julie Sitze of Bethalto and Cindy and Kevin Doak of East Alton; 7 grandchildren, Stacey Burdick, Nicole Broyles, Eric and Rachel Doak, Jesse and Jacob Sitze, and Michael Smith; 8 great grandchildren, Meghan, Kellin, Mackinzie, Brayden, Ashton, Ethan, Makenna, and Madison; and a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Toni Foster of Baton Rouge, La.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where Rev. Frank Sparks will officiate at services 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21.
Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana, with military honors by the VFW, Alton Post #1308.
