Marlene Sue Peters, 79, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
She was born October 6, 1931 in Alton, the daughter of the late Harry M. and Frances E. (Shirley) Tate Sr. She was retired from Yungck Medical in Alton. She was a member of the Maple Street Chapel in Hartford, IL and volunteered for Crisis Food Center. On April 7, 1950 in Alton, she married Donald G. Peters Sr. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2009.
She is survived by three daughters: Karen Sutton and her husband Dennis of Alton, Sharon Peters of Alton, and Carol Reynolds and her husband Dennis of Bethalto, one son, Donald G. Peters Jr. and his wife Dawn of Loveland, CO; nine grandchildren: Jeff Sutton and his wife Emily, Amanda Sutton, Kirsten and Samantha Reynolds, Alison, Sarah, Bradley, and Kira Peters, and Cole Mohs; two great grandchildren, Owen Sutton and Myra Marlene Sutton and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother; Harry M. Tate Jr.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday with Reverend Andre Dobson to officiate.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
