Emma Jane Gardner Millsap passed from this life on December 16, 2010, at

the age of 79 in Wichita, KS. Jane was the youngest daughter of Harry A.

Gardner and Rosa (Thompson) Gardner and was born November 3, 1931 in

Pleasant Hill, Illinois. Jane graduated from Western Illinois University

in Macomb, Illinois and began a teaching career that lasted thirty

years. She began teaching in the Alton School District as an elementary

school teacher but spent the most years teaching in the Jersey School

District at Dow Elementary School and then at Fieldon Elementary School.

Many hundreds of children began their education under the tutorage of

Miss Gardner. She was universally loved by her students. She was a long

time member of the Gospel Assembly Church of Jerseyville.

She married Charles Millsap on April 13, 1972. She and Charles moved to

Wichita, Kansas, where they both worked in the Wichita Gospel Assembly

church. They were married 31 years. Charles passed away February 25,

2005. Jane worked with the children of the church as long as her health

allowed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents, Harry and

Rosa Gardner; four brothers, Vinton Gardner, Russell Gardner, Emery

Gardner, and Ted Gardner: one sister Ruth Sullivan Wallis. She is

survived by sons: Charles (Chuck) Millsap of Haysville, Kansas; Paul

Millsap of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters: Ethel Moore of Glendale,

Arizona, Eunice Shaw of Carrollton, Illinois; one brother Paul Gardner

and wife Nancy of Peoria, Illinois: six grandchildren and one great

grandchild. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services were held December 18, 2010 at the Gospel Assembly Church in

Wichita, KS, with Rev. Gary Green officiating.

Jane will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
