Eleanora A. McGaughey, age 94, went to be with the Lord at 4:22 a.m. Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on June 21, 1916 in Prairietown, IL, the daughter of the late, Edward & Minnie (Hayen) Dustmann.
She married Floyd H. McGaughey on November 4, 1936 in Edwardsville. He passed away on November 23, 1995.
Eleanora was bookkeeper for her husbands construction company for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. She loved to garden and grow flowers but most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by her, daughter-in-law, Norma J. McGaughey of Moro; sister-in-law, Daisy Dustmann of Staunton; three grandchildren, Rick McGaughey, June Carey and Laura & her husband Rob Royse; five great grandchildren, Brad McGaughey, Mark Carey, Elizabeth Carey, Mitchell Royse and Nolan Royse; one great great granddaughter, Kaylen Carey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her patents; husband, one son, Richard L. McGaughey; two brother, Norman and Melvin Dustmann; one sister, Florence Watson; a step mother, Bertha Dustmann; one step brother, Roman Spittler and a step sister, Darallin Neuhaus.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, with Pastor Dan Decker officiating.
Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran School.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto will be in charge of arrangements.
