Mary Elizabeth Herbert, 89, of Cottage Hills, passed away at 4:06 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2010.
She was born Nov. 21, 1921 in Lynnville, IL to Wesley Shelton and Nellie (Lazenby) Coumbes.
She was a member of the WCTU and was a homemaker.
She married George H. Herbert on Dec. 24, 1943 in Jacksonville,IL. He preceded in death on Sept. 15, 1987.
She is survived by a son and daughter in law, Dwayne and Lois Herbert of East Templeton, Mass.; a daughter, Thela L. Wanick of Cottage Hills; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Herbert and his wife Lori, Elizabeth Herbert, Scott Rea and his wife Kelli ; one great grandchild, Genieveve Herbert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ralph Coumbes; two sisters, Beulah Coumbes and Carol Jackson.
Visitation will be Monday, December, 27 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights from 1 p.m. until services at 2 p.m. Rev. Dan Smith will officiate.
Cremation will follow with burial at a later date in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto,IL.
Memorials may be given to Charity of Choice.
