Lawrence Marvin Reed age 79, passed away at 10:55 am on December 19, 2010, at Bethesda Dilworth in St. Louis, MO.
He was born in Alton, IL on August 31, 1931, the son of William and Mildred (Ballard) Reed.
Lawrence worked at Proctor and Gamble for 29 years, starting on the line and retiring in mid level management in 1994. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Lawrence graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in Alton and was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Alton.
He is survived by six children and their spouses Ann (Chris) Munier of Kirkwood, MO, Bill (Gari) Reed of Newhall, CA, Mary (Paul) Rickard of Aurora, IL, Barb (David) Kupiec of Wilmette, IL, Patrick Reed of Huntington Beach, CA, and Jenny Reed (John Berglund) of St. Louis, MO; eight grandchildren Madeline and Kathleen Rickard, Leah and Sarah Munier, Sofie and Grace Kupiec, Jack and Chloe Berglund.
His parents preceded him in death.
A public visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Sunday December 26, 2010 at Staten Fine Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
A public funeral mass will be held at 1 pm on Monday December 27, 2010 at St. Mary’s Church in Alton with Father Nnamdi Moneme, O.M.V. officiating.
Private burial will follow, with full military rites being preformed by the Alton VFW Post 1308.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church or Marquette Catholic High School.
