Betty Jane McClintock, 89, passed away at 11:45 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Delmar Gardens North in Florissant, MO.
She was born on March 1, 1921 in Saint Louis, MO, and raised by her aunt and uncle Josephine & Gus (Hasler) Greding.
She married Robert McClintock on November 6, 1943 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2002.
Betty received her BS RN from SIUE. In 1969 she received her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education. She had a St. Joseph’s Alton Community District Nursing career beginning in 1943, retiring in 1996, having over 50 years in the health care industry. She worked as a registered nurse and was involved in nursing education. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp during WWII, a lifetime member of the American Red Cross and received the Women of Distinction Award in 1996.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in law, Sarah “Jane” and the honorable P.J. O’Neill of Golden Eagle, IL and Susan and Gerry Stauder of Saint Louis, MO; four grandchildren and their spouses, John (Mitsue) Schold of Cincinnati, OH, Caroline (Ian) Horwood of York, England, Michael (Jana) O’Neill and Timothy (Nikki) O”Neill all of Alton and nine great grandchildren, Lisa, Andrew and Hanna Schold, Carlie, Lauren and Johnny O’Neill, Jack and Tom Horwood and Colin O’Neill.
A memorial visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, December 2, 2010 at Staten Fine Funeral Home in Alton. A Memorial Mass will follow at 1 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Father Shawn Monahan O.M.V. as celebrant.
Inurnment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
