Ramona “Jean” Bottorff, 79, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010 at her home with family and friends by her side.  Born October 29, 1931 in Alton, she was the daughter of Raymond and Rose (Dollar) Whitlow.  She owned and operated Jean’s Petite Poodle Parlor for over 50 years, being the first groomer in the area. 

On December 3, 1949, in Alton, she married Frank J. Bottorff.  He survives.  Also surviving is a daughter, Dixie Bottorff of Cottage Hills, a son, Michael Bottorff and his wife Priscilla of Bethalto, three grandchildren, Justin Bottorff and wife Alicia of Pacific, MO, Aaron and Patrick Bottorff of Bethalto, a great grandson, Brayden, two nephews and their wives, Toby and Karen Lyons and Larry and Debbie Lyons of Arizona, a niece, Theresa Barnes and husband Randy of Jerseyville, a special friend, Rita Biggerstaff of S. Roxana and many friends and clients. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Denver and Dexter “Toby” Martin. 

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.  Kevin Shaw will officiate.  Burial will be private. 

Memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness or the 5A’s Animal Shelter, as she was a lover of animals or to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
