Gerald “Jerry” E. King, 76, went to be with the Lord at 3:20 am on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Alton Memorial Hospital.


He was born on January 6, 1934 in Alton, IL, the son of William Buell “W.B.” and Violet (Naylor) King.

 

He married Thelma A. Simpson on August 13, 1955 in Alton, IL.  She survives. 

 

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1956.  He worked in the Brass Mill at Olin Corporation for over 40 year, retiring in 1996.  He was a member of the Wood River 1st Baptist Church.  He volunteered at the Lewis and Clark Museum and he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and camping.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Tom Hribik of Belvidere, IL and Tammy and Jamie Adams of Wylie, TX; six grandchildren, Robert Adams, Joshua Adams and his wife, Nichole, Jessica Hribik and her fiancé’ Michael Roman, Brandy, Sara and Daniel Hribik; four great grandchildren, Jonathan, Nicholas, Kaylie and Conner Adams; a special niece and her husband, Linda and Larry Roberts of Godfrey and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mevel Barker.



Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.  Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Andre Dobson officiating.



Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.



Memorials may be made to the Lewis & Clark Museum.
