Delene “Dee” Wallace, 75, died at 9:40 am Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at home with her family at her side while under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
She was born on October 22, 1934 in Prairie Grove, AR, the daughter of Carl and Lucille (Jones) McCleland.
She married Herman “Shorty” Wallace Jr. in Cottage Hills, IL on September 25, 1953. He passed away on December 15, 2004.
She was a homemaker most of her life but had previously worked at Owens Illinois Glass and Bethalto Care Center. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly & Mark Ricci of Bethalto; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Sam Wallace of Lampe, MO, Tracy & Belinda Wallace of Bethalto, Brad Wallace and his fiancée, Starla Kutter of Cottage Hills, and Jody Wallace of Holiday Shores; six grandchildren and their spouses, Kasey & Terry Leto, Ben & Amanda, Jessica & Basil, Jami & Casey, Travis, Jenna; five great grandchildren, Zachary, Lexy, Braden, Brodie and Jaydin; a sister, Barbara Smith of Rosewood Heights; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott & Wendy McCleland of Wesley Chapel, FL; a sister-in-law, Colene McCleland of East Alton; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Loretta & Rusty Bell of Texas and Pat & Tom Beirmann of Moro; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Willard & Barb Wallace of Bethalto and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son, Tony Dean Wallace, one granddaughter, Kerry Jo Hammond, three sisters, Annabelle McCleland, Juanita Sutter and Billie Jo Stafford and two brothers, Claude McCleland and Carlie McCleland.
A memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
